B6 Berrellium

Six children (aged 11-15) from two families, who love working together, inventing things with Lego and enjoying football, roller hockey, music, farming, power tools, food and fun!

This year, B6 Berrellium became UK and Ireland First Lego League Champions, beating 47 other regional finalists!

FLL is a global competition - so now we've been invited to represent our country at the World Finals in St Louis, USA in April - where there will be 108 teams from over 40 countries!

But this is going to cost us several thousand pounds so if you can help us, or know someone who can - please get in touch!

What is First Lego League?

A huge international competition to inspire children about science and technology.  The competition is run by the FIRST organisation and Lego, supported by several multi-national sponsors.

There are two elements to the competition

• Firstly, we must design, build and program an autonomous robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS® technology, then compete head-to-head live on a table-top playing field!

The Project

Teams also need to research a real-world problem such as food safety, recycling, energy, etc., and develop a solution - which they present live to a judging panel.

• This year, the theme is 'Animal Allies'.  We've chosen to try and protect our honey bees - they're really impotrtant for our food - as they are being threatened by a new savage predator!

We're so proud to have won - but to afford to go to the World Festival in the USA is going to cost us cost several thousand pounds! Can you help us get there?
